A slimline floor console that sits low under a window like a radiator, so it suits rooms where a high wall does not work. RapidHeat gets the warmth moving quickly, which really counts on a cold Central Otago morning.
It comes with built-in Wi-Fi control and energy monitoring as standard. The KW50 and KW60 are also available with optional HyperCore for full heating down to -15°C.

An Ecodan air to water heat pump takes heat out of the outside air and puts it into water instead of air. That water runs your underfloor heating and fills your hot water cylinder, off one outdoor unit, at a fraction of the running cost of resistive electric heating.
Ecodan runs your slab or overlay at a low, steady flow temperature, which is exactly what underfloor wants. The heat comes up through the floor rather than blowing across the room, so there is no draught and nothing to hear.
It suits a Central Otago build well. The slab holds heat through the night, and on a frosty morning the floor is already warm rather than starting from cold.
The same Ecodan heats a stainless potable cylinder for showers, taps and laundry. It is a straight replacement for an electric element cylinder and it draws roughly a third of the power to deliver the same hot water.

For every unit of electricity it draws, a modern heat pump moves roughly three to five units of heat into the room. That makes it far and away the cheapest electric heating you can put in a house.
What you pay comes down to the size of the unit, how well the house holds heat and how you run it. Every Mitsubishi Electric Smart Series unit has energy monitoring built in, so you can see exactly what each room is costing you rather than guessing.
It depends on the volume of the room, how well insulated it is, and the winter design temperature where you live. Central Otago is sized against about −5°C, colder than most of the country, so a unit that would suit a lounge in Auckland is undersized here.

A standard heat pump quietly loses output as the temperature drops, which is exactly when you want it working hardest. It is the most common complaint we hear about units installed by someone who did not size for our climate.

A straightforward back-to-back install, where the indoor and outdoor units sit either side of the same wall, is usually a few hours and you have heat the same day.
Longer pipe runs, multi-room systems, ducted, underfloor and hot water installs take longer and get scheduled properly around the rest of the job. We will tell you which yours is when we quote.
It depends on the unit you choose, where it has to go, how far the pipe run is, and what electrical work goes with it. Anyone who gives you a firm price before looking at the house is guessing.

A single high wall heats the room it is in and, if the doors are open, takes the edge off the space next to it. It will not heat bedrooms down a hallway.
If you want even heat everywhere, the options are a multi-room system, a ducted system running off one outdoor unit, or Ecodan underfloor. We will talk you through which suits your place and your budget.
Yes. Clean the filters yourself every few weeks through the season, and have it properly serviced once a year. A clogged unit works harder for less heat, which shows up on your power bill.
An annual service also keeps most manufacturer warranties valid. We service all major brands, including units we did not install.
